Here is a link to article by the WSJ about how Americans spend their time in a typical week. The article breaks out results by various ages, work statuses and gender.

I couldn’t help but notice the contrast between the average time spent on TV/entertainment/sports and civic/religious.

II Samuel 3 : The Kingdom of Israel

Teacher: John Kent

The theme of 2 Samuel is the establishment of the kingdom of Israel, progressing from a diverse group of divided and warring tribes to a solidified kingdom under David. However the purpose for recording these events was not merely to have an “official” record of David’s reign. The main thread is the rule of God over His people. II Samuel emphasizes that it was God who rejected Saul for his disobedience, chose David for the throne, and disciplined David for his pride. God was the true King of Israel.
